How a 16-Year-Old Used AI to Rebuild a Government Website

"I'm rebuilding a government website — but better."
That's what Neil, a 16-year-old student in our beta AI course, told us on day one. His father, Ari, was in need of a commissioner for oath, and struggled trying to find the one nearest to him. The SAL Directory had useful data but was hard to navigate, the interface clunky, and the experience… confusing.
So Neil set out to recreate it.
Only this time:
- It would be built using AI and clean UI design
- It would allow users to search for Notaries or Commissioners of Oaths by location, not just by name
- It would make public information actually usable and accessible for everyday people
Week by week, he learned:
- How to build a full-stack web app using AI
- How to integrate Google Maps, filters, and real user inputs
- How to manage location access and user privacy
What once required a computer science degree was built in just 5 hours by a 16-year-old — thanks to the power of AI.
This is what happens when you equip kids with real tools, real mentorship, and a real mission.
They don't just chat with AI. They build with it.
For their communities. For the future.
And here's the exciting part: we're now helping Neil approach the relevant government agency to see if they'd consider adopting or collaborating on his new design.
Check out Neil's website at nearbynotary.sg and let us know what you think.
Today we're officially launching Strive's AI Course for students aged 9+.
It's designed for curious, driven kids like Neil — who don't just want to learn about AI, but want to use it to build something that matters.
